Extending/Mirroring your Display using 3rd Party Apps

A second display is pretty useful for developers, especially Android Developers. Primebook is based on Android itself, while full Linux support is coming soon, this makes primebook one of the best experimental development environment.

The processor powering Primebook 3 Max supports 5 USB ports without a USB hub, that also includes native Displayport Alt mode support. However, older primebooks may not support this.

The best approach to mirror your display would be using native screen mirroring solutions.

However, if you would like to try out an advanced approach, you could try using scrcpy (read as screen copy). You can connect your device to another windows/Linux/Android/Android (Smart) TV using the OTG USB port, or over same wireless network to use it as a second screen/to mirror.

  1. Enable Developers option on Primebook, Turn on Wireless Debugging, copy the IP address, port, and credentials.

  2. Install ScrcpyForAndroid if your target Display device uses Android based OS (NOT RECOMMENDED)

  3. Install adb and scrcpy if your target Display device uses Windows or Linux based OS (RECOMMEND)

  4. Follow available documentations to connect to your Android device (primebook) using adb and mirror/extend your display using scrcpy.

Note: ScrcpyForAndroid is an unofficial Android port from a Chinese developer, use at your own risk.

Note: Do not install Scrcpy from any website other than the Genymobile’s official GitHub repository, as they may try to steal your data.

Note: Turning on Developer options and Wireless Debugging may make your device vulnerable to hackers, use at your own risk
