Formal complaint

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding OS Limitations, Performance Issues, and Lack of System Freedom

Dear Technical and Product Management Team,

I am writing to formally raise concerns regarding the current software limitations and performance restrictions on my Primebook device. While the hardware is marketed as a laptop, the operating system and system restrictions make it difficult to use the device beyond very basic tasks, which does not match the expectations created at the time of purchase.

  1. Gaming Performance and Key-Mapping Issues

While trying to play games on the device, even simple racing games require the use of key-mapping because the Android-based environment does not properly support keyboard controls.
The key-mapping system is laggy, unresponsive, and inconsistent, making the gaming experience frustrating and unreliable.

For a device sold as a laptop, basic keyboard and input compatibility should work properly without requiring external mapping tools.

  1. Application Compatibility Problems (Play Store / Steam)

Another serious issue is application compatibility. Many apps cannot be downloaded from the Play Store because the device is marked as incompatible.
In addition, platforms such as Steam cannot be properly used because the system does not support a standard desktop operating environment.

This greatly limits the usability of the device for gaming, productivity, and professional tasks, even though the hardware itself should be capable of more.

  1. Dependence on Android-Based OS

The continued dependence on the Android-based PrimeOS environment is a major limitation.
This system lacks proper desktop-level support for office software, development tools, and many PC applications.

Users should have the option to switch to other operating systems such as Linux or Windows-based environments without unnecessary restrictions or paid unlocking methods.

  1. Lack of Freedom to Manage Hardware and Storage

As a customer, my expectation is that once the hardware is purchased, I should have reasonable freedom to manage storage, configure the system, and install a compatible operating system of my choice, provided that it does not violate warranty terms.

Currently, the inability to freely partition storage, unlock the system, or install another OS creates the impression that the hardware is being artificially limited.

  1. Need for Transparency and Better Support

There should be greater transparency regarding these limitations at the time of purchase.
This would help build trust with customers who want to use the device for more than basic browsing and media consumption, for example gaming, programming, office work, or other productive tasks.

  1. Request to the Technical Team

I request a clear technical explanation regarding these restrictions.
I strongly suggest that future updates or models provide:

  • Official support for OS switching
  • Better keyboard and input compatibility OR remove it completely
  • Improved Play Store and app compatibility
  • Ability to install alternative operating systems
  • Proper on-device performance without relying on key-mapping or cloud-based solutions

I would appreciate a detailed response from the technical team rather than a generic support reply, as this concern relates to core functionality of the device.

Hi @FIRSTIMEPRIMEOSUSER,

Thank you for reaching out to us. Your feedback is valuable. Please find our responses to your concerns below:

  • Gaming performance depends on the game and the graphics settings used. Since PrimeOS is Android-based and many Android games are built for touch input, key-mapping is provided to enable keyboard and mouse controls.

  • Primebook uses its own App Store instead of the Play Store. If an app is missing, you can request it through support. For Steam-related issues, the support team can help check compatibility.

  • Android is gradually evolving toward desktop-style usage. PrimeOS is designed to deliver a desktop-like UI and UX while remaining compatible with the Android app ecosystem.

  • Allowing unrestricted system changes or disk partitioning can create security risks and potential data loss. Android systems are also not designed for traditional desktop-style disk partition management.

  • Primebook runs PrimeOS, an Android-based system. Basic programming tasks are supported, and for more advanced desktop workloads, Cloud PC subscriptions can provide access to full Windows or Linux environments.

  • Feedback on OS flexibility, input improvements, and app compatibility is noted and reviewed based on platform design and hardware constraints.

Please let us know if you have further queries.
