Unable to Change Default Launcher in Primebook (Home App Option Missing

Dear Primebook Development Team,

I am currently using a Primebook device running on PrimeOS, and I’ve encountered an issue related to the system launcher. I would like to set a third-party launcher (e.g., Nova Launcher) as the default. However, the usual “Home App” option is missing from the system settings, which is normally found under Apps > Default Apps in standard Android environments.

Despite installing a new launcher, I am unable to switch from the default system launcher due to the absence of this option. I have also tried third-party tools like Activity Launcher, but a built-in system setting to easily manage the home app would provide a much smoother experience.

Could you please look into this or provide an update/alternative method for changing the default launcher on PrimeOS?

Your support is appreciated, and I look forward to a resolution.

Hi @white,

PrimeOS doesn’t support third-party launchers as they are not optimised for the desktop experience and display unexpected behaviour.

Subject: Feedback Regarding Third-Party Launchers on PrimeOS

Hi @ lordarcadius

Thank you for your response. However, I’d like to clarify that third-party launchers can work effectively on PrimeOS, and there are several options already being used smoothly by many Primebook users. Here are some of the most popular and optimized ones:

  1. Win-X Launcher
  2. Computer Launcher Pro
  3. Win 11 Launcher
  4. Win 12 Launcher
  5. Win 11 Computer Launcher
  6. HyperDroid – PC Launcher

These launchers provide a familiar desktop-style UI, improved productivity, and a more personalized experience — which aligns perfectly with the goals of Primebook for a PC-like Android experience.

I kindly suggest that the PrimeOS team consider supporting third-party launcher integration in future updates, or at least provide an option to safely switch launchers. This will encourage flexibility and increase user satisfaction, which ultimately can lead to broader adoption of Primebook among students and professionals.

Looking forward to your thoughts and future updates.

Warm regards,
@white

We will surely look into your suggestion.

Thanks
